Activities of SAGA

On May 1, 2001, three cities of Saitama Prefecture merged and Saitama City was born. With a population exceeding about 1.12million, Saitama City is a major city of Japan known for its abundant natural resources, rich culture and traditions, advanced education system, convenient transportation facilities and developed economy and administration. Moreover, on April 1, 2003, the city achieved the status of an ordinance-designated city.

By holding regular exchange events with its sister/friendship cities, Saitama City also actively promotes global awareness in the region. To further promote global awareness through the support of citizens, the city established the Saitama City Association Global Awareness (SAGA) as a voluntary association on January 15, 2002.
